Sequential Parts Delivery

Sequential Parts Delivery - Great Lakes Assemblies
Sequential Parts Delivery or SPD is the process of delivering automotive parts to an assembly plant in the exact order or sequence in which the vehicles that need them are being assembled on the production line. At a pre-determined point in the automotive assembly process, a broadcast signal is sent to GLA. GLA then provides the necessary tire and wheel assemblies making certain that the assemblies are specific and unique to each vehicle.

GLA tire and wheel assemblies are ready for shipment four to six hours in advance of receiving the broadcast from its customers. Once the broadcast is received, information such as line numbers are confirmed and visual inspections for damage and correct parts are carried out by senior associates. The tires are staged according to sequence numbers as detailed in the broadcast. The assemblies are loaded into the trailer and a master packing list is generated. The assemblies are then shipped to the manufacturer just-in-time for final assembly of each vehicle.
